HOBART Service would like to thank Jess for completing her work experience with us!
Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Jess to HOBART Service to complete her work experience with us. Jess has been working with multiple departments to give an insight into how the business works and what is required to ensure smooth running of the business.
Jess worked with the following teams
- Spares Purchasing
- Quotes
- Service Response / Helpdesk
- Key Accounts
- Technical Department – Demo Kitchen
- IT
We asked Jess for feedback on her most enjoyable moments:
‘Lee in IT – taught me about the databases responsible for connecting the companies’ different applications.
‘Fakara/Emily on Quotes – talked me through how to raise quotes and taught me their different approaches.
‘Andrea from Spares – let me order van stock more than once, even though I was much slower and made more mistakes'
When completing her weeks work experience Jess told us what she liked and enjoyed:
‘Everyone was very approachable and patient while I was learning and always answered my questions.
‘Baking in the demo kitchen (obviously!)
‘Getting to have my “own” desk most days.’
Jess also told us what she had learnt about whilst working with our teams during the placement…
‘ITW network, about Hobart contracts, how to order van stock, how to raise quotes, about customer calls, management of key accounts (mainly M&B), some features of Hobart equipment (ovens + dishwashers), databases behind the applications used by the Hobart employees (aka the applications that I had been using all week).’
The awards / accomplishments Jess felt she achieved were:
‘Cancelled 155 customer calls (which took over 2.5 hours)!’
‘Baked cakes in the demo kitchen.’
‘Learning about the IT that makes up the systems that I had been observing and using all week (Sage + Siclops + how they link to the spreadsheets used by all employees).’
Andrea from our spares department said:
‘I had the pleasure of showing Jess a few jobs, but mainly van stock replenishment. This is where we issue van stock that has been ordered by the technicians.
Jess was very attentive and willing to learn, so much so that by Thursday/Friday she was able to carry out the work herself with confidence.
Jess is a very likeable and capable young lady with a very bright future ahead of her.’
