My HOBART Service journey: Badder Manir, Accounts Assistant

HOBART Service continues to promote a positive work culture by investing in staff members' progression and development. Today we focus on our Accounts Assistant, Badder Manir’s HOBART Service Journey.

Badder joined HOBART Service in 2008 working in the Spare Parts department. 10 years later in 2018, Badder moved to the Finance Department and soon started his Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 3 Apprenticeship, which he went on to pass in 2020.

“My apprenticeship was offered to me by my Finance Manager. It was a challenge to begin with as I was completely new to the finance role, I had to pick up everything from scratch – including the finance terminology.

“HOBART Service allow 20% of worktime to study and this, along with understanding colleagues and a really good working environment, has made my apprenticeship easier.”

Badder is currently studying for his AAT Level 4 which he is due to complete next January, “I deal with all the Accounts Receivables side of the business – essentially all of the money coming into the company bank account – and have to place it on our accounting ledgers.

“My role has also given me some further experiences with reconciling the cashbook, daily revenue reporting and I am currently spearheading the drive to make Direct Debits go fully paperless.”

Badder’s favourite thing about working for HOBART Service is his team, “The people around me are great to work with.”

Finance Manager for HOBART Service, John Jenkins, credits Badder and his apprenticeship journey, “Badder is hardworking and committed to his learning, having consistently achieved high marks in his exams. The AAT Apprenticeship has not only been a great opportunity for Badder but has given him the knowledge and confidence required to become a valued member of the team.”

Badder’s career goal is to reach Finance Management, “In the next 5 years I am hoping to stay within the finance profession and make use of my apprenticeship to further my career. Studying a CIMA Professional Apprenticeship is something I am considering at the moment and would help achieve my career goals.”
