Quickfire Q&A with…Nikki Hughes, Area Sales Manager – Hobart UK Equipment Division
Introducing one of the newest members of the Hobart team, Nikki Hughes, who brings the same dedication to her work as she does to her stringent fitness routine. We got a chance to sit down with Nikki, to discover more about her role and what keeps her sprinting forward every day.
In one sentence, how would you summarise your role at Hobart?
My role is to be the face of Hobart across the Midlands, making sure that both our dealers and our end users get the best experience possible.
How long have you been in your role?
It’s my first position at Hobart, and I’ve been here for 17 months now – I joined on Valentine’s Day last year. It’s fair to say I ‘love’ the role.
Why do you love being a part of the Hobart team?
In this industry, there’s always so much to learn. I’ve been in the role for quite a few months but every day is still a school day for me. The team is like a second family so there is always someone there to support you or knows the answer to what you need. There’s never a question you feel stupid for asking.
What’s your favourite Hobart product and why?
It has to be the High-Speed Steamer – it’s not a new product by any means, but it still delivers that ‘wow’ factor. When you demonstrate to a customer and take a gastronorm of peas, and cook it in seven seconds, whilst keeping in all the goodness. The customers love that – it’s just a great, impressive product.
Tell us something about you that not many people know?
Everyone knows that I’m a gym bunny, but I’ve recently started running over at the gym, so I’m now running most days of the week. It’s such an easy, versatile thing so if you’re having a bad day, you can just get out, go for a half hour run and come back and get straight into it. I’ve just registered for my first 10k race at the end of summer!
What’s the best meal of your life, and why?
For me, family is everything. I know everyone says this, but my mum’s roast dinner is the best. So, it would be Christmas Dinner 2017 – it was the last Christmas dinner we had in my childhood home before my mum moved house, and it’s the last time we had everyone together. The nostalgia of being in my childhood home, everybody around the table and the magic of Christmas. It was a really special meal.
