1. Deep clean your equipment before the Christmas rush
It’s important to deep clean your HOBART dishwasher to ensure optimised functionality and to kill any harmful bacteria in your machine.
Most HOBART dishwashers flag up on the display screen when a Hygiene Cycle is needed. For any machines that don’t have this feature, we recommend a monthly deep clean to keep bacteria at bay.

2. Drain and refill your machine at least once a day
Refilling your HOBART dishwasher with clean water is essential for an effective, hygienic clean.
Mark Whitmarsh, Technical Operations Manager for HOBART Service explains, “Simply put: Clean water = clean plates!”
Mark continues, “To get the best performance from your HOBART dishwasher, we recommend draining the machine as frequently as possible. In an ideal situation, the operator should drain the machine following each sitting, this will help optimise the machine’s performance, reduce breakdowns and downtime and keep your machine hygienic and free from bacteria.”
3. Check levels and stock up on quality detergent and rinse aid
Preparation is key – make sure you’re stocked up with chemicals and cleaning tablets to cover you for the festive period.

4. Do your water filters need replacing?
Water filters are critical to the lifespan of your machine and quality of your wash results – particularly in hard water areas.
“Why not have a spare set,” Mark suggests. “We often find that the most common issues found are related to poor maintenance of your dishwasher, the filters should be checked and cleaned following each drain down and having a spare set will encourage this.”
5. Don’t ignore error codes!
Error codes can show on your dishwasher for many different reasons, from running low on detergent to an error which may require a technician.
“The majority of the common defect codes can be located within the Operator Manual.” Mark explains, “We give basic guidance to a competent person to help reduce potential breakdowns and, in some cases, will reduce the need for a service call. Common fault codes are often related to water inlet or drainage, it’s worth ensuring your services are adequate prior to calling us.”
