Warmer days and longer nights are approaching – summer months filled with beer gardens, enjoying fresh food and refreshing drinks – a busy time of the year for the hospitality industry!
Kitchen equipment failure at this busy time could cost your business both money and reputation.
Take a look at our top tips for optimising your kitchen equipment and preventing downtime:
1. Deep clean your equipment before the summertime rush begins
Deep cleaning your dishwasher Is important to ensure optimised results and kill any lingering bacteria in your machine.
Your machine may flag when it is ready for a Hygiene Cycle. HOBART Service recommend you run a Hygiene Cycle once a month using our specially formulated Hygiene Tablets - this will eliminate bacteria in the machine, resulting in a professional hygienic clean.

Draining and refilling your HOBART dishwasher with clean water ensures a fresh, hygienic clean for your dishes.
HOBART UK's Technical Operations Manager, Mark Whitmarsh expains,
“To get the best performance from your HOBART dishwasher, we recommend draining the machine as frequently as possible. In an ideal situation, the operator should drain the machine following each sitting, this will help optimise the machine’s performance, reduce breakdowns and downtime, and keep your machine hygienic and free from bacteria.”
3. Stock up on you quality dishwasher detergent and rinse aid!
Running low on chemicals during the busy months can cause preventable machine downtime!
Make sure you have enough stock of chemicals such as cleaning tablets and detergent. Our manufaturer Hyline dishwasher chemicals are highly concentrated to last longer - saving you money and reducing your site's single use plastic consumpton

4. Do your water filters need replacing?
Water filters are critical to the lifespan of your machine and quality of your wash results – particularly in hard water areas.
“Why not have a spare set,” Mark suggests, “We often find that the most common issues found are related to poor maintenance of your dishwasher. The filters should be checked and cleaned following each drain down, and having a spare set will encourage this.”
5. Don’t ignore error codes.
Error codes are your dishwasher's way of telling you something is wrong - from low salt levels to a critical fault - it's important to consult your Operator Manual and follow the appropriate steps to prevent machine failure and subsequent downtime.
“The majority of the common defect codes can be located within the Operator Manual,” Mark continues, “Common fault codes are often related to water inlet or drainage, it’s worth ensuring your services are adequate prior to calling us.”
6. Make sure you have quality cover in case of breakdown
Covering your assets is the most effective way to protect your kitchen equipment.
