Foodservice equipment and service leader set out plans to lower vehicle emissions
HOBART have installed electric car charging points for staff and visitors at our Peterborough head office. The requirement for vehicle charging points follows HOBART introducing hybrid and electric company cars to field-based workforce as part of its comprehensive Environmental and Social Responsibility Governance strategy.
The rise in electric and hybrid vehicles is fast increasing, and with it, the need for charging points. By introducing these stations - via smart EV charging company, eFaraday - HOBART are encouraging staff to maximise electric-powered driving on their daily commute to and from the office.
Business has returned to normal since the pandemic and, while our teams are mindful of reducing travel and holding virtual meetings where possible, for the necessary journeys changing to electric vehicles will considerably reduce the company’s emissions, and therefore carbon footprint. HOBART predict that over 200 tonnes of C02 will be saved by the end of 2023, with further vehicle emission savings projected as more company vehicles move over to electric.
Smart electric vehicle charging company, eFaraday commented:
“Installing EV charge points in the workplace will of course have a significant positive environmental impact, in reducing your company’s vehicle emissions, but they also provide multiple ongoing benefits to an organisation and build a work culture that is more focused around the importance of sustainability.
“As well as offering employees and visitors’ access to reliable and high-quality charge points, the organisation will be clearly promoted as innovative and sustainably focused. A workplace charge point system will improve overall employee wellbeing, attract a forward-thinking workforce as well as help future-proof your workplace for the electric revolution!”
In addition to electric vehicles, HOBART Service have introduced vehicle routing software to aid our planning team, reduce our carbon footprint and improve customer service.
Matt Knowles, QHSR Manager for HOBART UK commented,
“Our integration of environmental sustainability has already begun with a transition to hybrid vehicles and trialling vehicle routing software to improve efficiency of our technicians and remove unnecessary driving miles.
“HOBART are committed to identifying and implementing ways to be a more sustainable business that benefits us, our employees, customers, the community and environment.”
The next step in reducing our carbon footprint - HOBART Service plan to introduce a fleet of hybrid vans for our nationwide team of Service Technicians.
